PORCELAIN KITCHEN TILE INSTALLATION - The kitchen floor tile installation pictured is an 8x8 porcelain tile. The layout of the tile is set with a straight grout joint pattern to match the tiles' geometric floor layout and is a very popular tile trend that is installed in a majority of floor tile jobs that are currently being installed.
This tile is almost indestructible and gives the beauty and appearance of an old-world floor with a modern edge. The added protection of a non-porous surface that will not warp from water exposure is a big plus for kitchen flooring. In this example, the floor underlayment selected is a tile backer 3x5 board that is installed by the tile contractor with a poly-modified thin-set and screwed down to the substrate OSB board.
All of the seams are taped and filled during the installation process. The poly-modified thin-set is applied to the back of the tile when installing to ensure full coverage of the materials to the floor.
This porcelain tile is imported from Spain and is a modern trend in todays kitchen design portfolio.
Porcelain tile is ideal for a kitchen floor installation project. Porcelain tile holds up well in busy kitchens.
Floor underlayment is vital for all floor tile installations. Triton board is thinset down and screwed to the substrate insuring a flat and rigid surface for the tile.
This porcelain tile is 8x8 in size yet because of the geometric design of the tile it appears much larger.
Our tile installer works hard to make precision cuts along the kitchen cabinets and under the appliances.
After we remove the old tile flooring The new underlayment is dry set and cut in place. Next we spread thinset to the subfloor and install the underlayment and screw into place.
Once the tile is set and cured we grout the floor with Mapei Ultra FA which is in our opinion the best grout on the market today.
