  • INSULATION - We will insulate (if necessary) the walls and ceiling to make sure that your new shower will retain the heat.

  • PLUMBING - ELECTRICAL The next steps to be taken. The steam unit must have a dedicated 240v line to power the unit and an exhaust fan will need to be installed and vented outside. The new shower drain most often needs to be moved to compensate for the shower bench. The shower valves and plumbing are installed.

  • WALLBOARD - SHOWER PAN INSTALLATION All of the shower pans that we install are cement poured with the correct tile backer board.

  • WATERPROOFING - This step is the most critical aspect of a steam shower installation project. We only install the most reliable and tested membranes on the market today. Like Laticrete Hydro Ban and Schluter-Kerdi.

  • TILE INSTALLATION - Most tiles sold today can be used in a steam shower however your best choice would be a non-porous tile such as Porcelain, Ceramic, or Glass tiles.

  • GLASS DOORS - We can install glass doors depending on the opening of the steam room or steam shower entrance. In most cases, a custom glass door needs to be cut and installed by a glass company such as-

WHAT STEAM UNIT SHOULD I PURCHASE? - Make sure the unit you select delivers on what it promises. This unit may be fixed. However, finding the right people to service your unit is another matter.   Some Steam Generator Options to consider - THERMASOL - STEAMIST

WILL A WINDOW WORK IN A STEAM SHOWER? - Yes, it is possible. As long as your window is a double-pane window. Most newer homes do have double pane. No heat out and no cold in.

IS INSULATION OF THE STEAM SHOWER NECESSARY? - It certainly is, especially when the walls, ceilings are exterior. Insulation not only keeps heat in the shower and prevents it from escaping outside, but it also prevents cold air from entering the shower.

WHAT ABOUT A SMALL SHOWER, CAN A BENCH BE BUILT? - The steamer can be used by sitting or standing. However, there are many options for creating a corner seat. You might also consider purchasing a fold-up bench to hang on the wall for saving space. It can also be done with a teak wood bench placed in the shower when using the steam feature.

The heat efficiency of tiles varies based on the size of the steam room/shower and the steam generator which will be installed for your bathroom project. Therefore, while all tiles are suitable for the steam room and steam shower installation, there are differences between each tile type.

Quality porcelain tiles are among the best heat-retaining tiles since they're not porous, followed by ceramic and glass tiles. Natural stone can also be used but requires more maintenance, particularly sealing it every year or so, depending on how often it's used. A disadvantage with natural stone is mold growth, so regular upkeep is required. However, for a large steam room or steam shower, it may be wiser to choose a non-porous tile as mentioned earlier.

Featured in the steam shower is a 12x24 porcelain wall tile installed with grout lines in straight lines. A natural stone tile is used on the ceiling and shower floor of the steam shower. Due to the small size of the steam shower, the use of natural stone tiles has little effect on the steam generator efficiency, while this could have significantly impacted the efficiency of a larger unit.

Action Shower Pan & Steam Shower Company will install tile to all surfaces with attention to surfaces and details regardless of the tile options you choose for your steam room or steam shower. The tile installation and remodeling process we use for our steam room and shower installations are handled by a tile installation expert with more than four decades of experience installing tiles.
