Complete Shower Remodeling Services in Lakewood, CO

Need wheelchair access? We install ADA-compliant showers to ensure functionality without sacrificing style.

Our Proven Steam Shower Installation Process

We start by removing your existing tub or shower, taking everything down to the studs and subfloor. We then reframe the area as needed to accommodate custom features like a shower bench, recessed niches, or a pitched ceiling for steam retention and comfort.

Proper insulation is essential in a steam shower, especially along exterior walls and ceilings. This step is critical to trap heat and prevent condensation build-up behind your walls.

Steam generators require a dedicated 240V line and proper plumbing. Some setups also need a vent fan routed to the outside. We coordinate with licensed plumbers and electricians to ensure everything is installed to code and functions perfectly.

We construct cement-poured (dry-pack) shower pans for strength, longevity, and a perfect fit. Backer boards are installed with precision to provide a solid, moisture-resistant base for your tile.

Our installations use advanced waterproofing systems like Schluter-Kerdi and Laticrete, Hydro Ban, to ensure full vapor proofing. These materials are designed to hold up under constant moisture and steam, protecting your home and maximizing performance.

Tile Options Tailored for Steam Shower Performance

We install a wide range of premium tile options designed to perform under the high heat and moisture conditions of a steam shower.

Porcelain tile is our top recommendation. It is extremely durable, low maintenance, and energy efficient. It retains heat well and efficiently, stands up to daily use without staining or warping, making it an ideal long-term choice.

Ceramic tile offers similar benefits to porcelain but with slightly different texture and finish options. It's a cost-effective, attractive solution that’s easy to maintain and holds up well under steam conditions.

Glass tile provides a contemporary look and adds a clean, reflective finish that enhances lighting and brings a modern aesthetic to any steam shower space.

Natural stone, such as marble, slate, and granite, adds natural beauty and luxury but requires extra care. These materials must be properly sealed at installation and maintained over time to prevent moisture penetration and mold. Regular cleaning and resealing are essential to keeping the surface in top shape and preserving long-term performance in a steam environment.

Essential Tips for Building a Steam Shower in Lakewood, CO

There’s nothing quite like stepping into a warm steam shower at the end of a hectic day. More and more homeowners in Lakewood are adding steam showers to their bathroom remodels—not just for the luxury, but for the everyday stress relief and wellness benefits they provide.

A well-designed steam shower doesn't just boost the comfort of your home—it turns your bathroom into a private, spa-like sanctuary.

Picking the Right Steam Generator

Your steam shower is only as good as the unit powering it. Choosing a dependable steam generator is critical if you want years of trouble-free use. Unfortunately, many people purchase low-cost models without considering long-term performance or repair availability.

Once a cheaper unit fails, repairs can be frustrating—and in some cases, parts or service may be impossible to find. To avoid those headaches, we recommend trusted brands like Thermasol and Delta for their reliability and excellent technical support.

Can a Steam Shower Include a Window?

Yes—steam showers can have windows, but they need to be double-pane to prevent heat from escaping. Most newer homes in Lakewood already feature double-glazed windows, which are perfect for steam shower builds. They keep heat in and cold out, helping maintain consistent steam temperatures.

Why Insulation is a Must for Steam Showers

If your steam shower walls or ceiling are connected to exterior surfaces, insulation is non-negotiable.

Without it, the steam can cool off too quickly, reducing the effectiveness of your system and the comfort of your experience.

Insulating your steam shower ensures that heat stays where it belongs—inside the space—so you can enjoy longer, more comfortable sessions with minimal energy loss.

When it comes to selecting tile for your steam shower or steam room, most types can be used—but not all tiles perform the same when it comes to holding heat. The type of tile you choose plays a major role in how efficiently your steam generator operates and how well your shower retains warmth.

Porcelain tile stands out as the top choice. It's non-porous, dense, and excellent at holding heat, making it the most energy-efficient option for steam environments. Right behind it are high-quality ceramic and glass tiles, both of which also perform well while offering a wide range of styles and finishes.

Natural stone tiles like marble, slate, or granite are also a possibility, but they require more upkeep. These tiles need to be sealed regularly—often once a year or more depending on usage—to prevent moisture absorption and maintain their appearance. For larger steam showers or steam rooms, non-porous tiles like porcelain are typically a better fit, as they help your generator work more efficiently.

Centennial Steam Shower Installer

The ideal tile layout for a steam shower installation often features porcelain set either horizontally or vertically, depending on the aesthetic you’re after. Grout lines can be aligned in a grid or staggered in a brick pattern to match your design style.

The steam shower ceiling and pan in the project shown here are tiled with natural stone. In both compact and full-size installations, using natural stone on the ceiling or floor alone won’t drastically affect the generator's performance. However, using a large amount of stone throughout the shower may reduce the system’s heat efficiency.
