I wanted to include this Denver, Colorado example of a marble shower installation only. That's all that was needed for our tile installer on this project. The floor was in very good and near new condition, and the new marble that the homeowner purchased for his walk in shower job, complemented his already existing bathroom decor.
I loved the selection of this marble. The beauty of marble is the outstanding qualities of the design patterns in the marble that occur naturally over centuries. It is the skill of the experienced tile installer to do his best to set this or any marble in a way that can come to be near perfection and will successfully continue the vein pattern of the marble.
The choice of marble tile in this installation projects is a good one and adds beautiful wall design and feel to this tile installation. Our tile installer 1st laid out the marble tile pattern so that the homeowner could give his approval.
We install waterproof tile backer board for all of out tile installation projects our tile installer works on. Each wall seam is taped and waterproofed with Laticrete waterproofing.
After the tile installer lays out the marble he begins installing the tile. We always set the wall tiles first and install the Schluter-Kerdi pan membrane after the wall tile is set.

As mentioned, we always start the tile work on the walls. This way we do not have to worry about working on top of our new pan. We can have ladders bucket and tolls in the work space with us. The white boards you see is for the first roll of wall tile to be set. We install the bottom roll of the once the wall tile is complete and the new pan is installed.
Before the cement is poured or dry pack is worked we have to install cement board, cut the pipe and install a new Schluter drain.
After the pan was installed and tested the tile can be set on the pan. The homeowner selected a stone sheet mounted tile for the pan

We prepare the surface of the tile and apply waterproofing before we tile.
The homeowners also kept the original vanity and added 2 new sink and a new counter top. Once the tile installation for the tub was finished no one would ever know that we tiled over tile. We cannot always do this for every job but for this project it was possible to do so.
The floor tile was set in contrast to the wall tile installation running left to right to make the bathroom floor appear wider.
